Floating House - Melville Island Park 1

Here, you sleep on the water. The floating houses of Studio Hébergements Flottants, a high-end category, are moored on the Saint-Maurice River, in Melville Island Park, in Shawinigan. When winter arrives, they spend the season in dry dock, which makes it possible to rent them outside of summer as well. Even though the park is right in the heart of Shawinigan, the setting remains that of a natural environment. On site, there is plenty to keep you busy all day: 15 km of hiking trails, 15 km of mountain biking trails, cycling, fishing and an outdoor pool. On the water, you can go out by canoe, kayak, rowboat or pedal boat, or join a boat excursion. The park also offers a forest adventure course, a climbing and obstacle course, an outdoor tennis court and nature interpretation activities. The park is immediately adjacent to the Cité de l'énergie, where you can climb a 115-metre (377-foot) observation tower, watch a multimedia show and visit an interactive permanent exhibition. For those who want to go further, Parc de la Mauricie is about a 25-minute drive away.
